Founders Meeting
Welcome to the very first Badgies Founding Members Meeting! 💛
Since you’re one of the members helping us start Badgies from the beginning, we want to celebrate with a fun evening focused on getting to know one another and officially kicking things off!
This will be a relaxed, sober, social event where we’ll have the chance to hang out, introduce ourselves, make new connections, and learn a little more about what Badgies is all about.
And, of course, no founding member meeting would be complete without your very first Badgies patch! Each founding member will receive their first patch as well as our Badgies Crossbody and some Badgies goodies, to mark the beginning of our journey together.
You’ll also learn how to sew your patch onto the clothing item of your choice! Use the Badgie Crossbody bag you'll receive (Founding Members meeting only) or bring a jacket, vest, or purchase one from our merchandise page that you’d like to make uniquely yours. We’ll walk you through the process, even if you’ve never sewn before!
Most importantly, this is a chance to celebrate being part of something brand new. Badgies is something we’re building together, and we’re so excited to have you here from the very beginning.

The Badgie behind Troop Badgies
Hi! I’m Alyssa Chrisman, the teacher, crafter, patch enthusiast, and person behind Troop Badgies.
Badgies started pretty simply: I’m a teacher who loves crafts and started teaching them after school. Then other people started reaching out wanting to join in, and I thought, “Okay… but how do I actually make this a thing?” And somehow, here we are!
I grew up in Girl Scouts and loved earning patches, so creating a space where people can learn DIY skills, try new things, make friends, and collect patches felt like the perfect combination of some of my favorite things.
A lot of my love for crafting actually comes from my mom. She was my Girl Scout leader, and she taught me more crafts than I can probably count. Her favorite response whenever I saw something I liked was simply:
“You could make that.”
And then I would go home and figure out how to make it.
That little phrase has stuck with me my entire life. It taught me that you don't have to know how to make something before you decide you can, you just have to be willing to try. That is a huge part of what I want Badgies to be about.
I’m also navigating adulthood with a recent diagnosis, which has helped explain why making friendships as an adult can sometimes feel like trying to complete a group project where nobody gave me the instructions.
I wanted Badgies to be a place where friendships can happen naturally while we’re busy making, learning, laughing, and trying new things together.
When I’m not creating Badgies adventures, I’m a mom of two, wife to a football/baseball coach, as well as a teacher and cheerleading coach. My oldest is starting preschool this year (how is that possible?!), and after teaching kindergarten, I’m making the jump to 4th grade this year!
Basically, I have no idea how I found time to start a troop, but I’m really glad I did.
Come for the patches. Stay for the friendships. And remember: you could make that.
